Relaxing Evening

No complaining today.  It was exactly what we all needed.  A quiet family day at home.  Only one soccer game this morning, a quick trip to the Farmer's Market for Sophia and me, and then a relaxing day at home. I even got to nap with Sophia this afternoon while Papa took the girls on some errands.  Aahhhh....just what I needed.
After a BBQ dinner we headed out to the beach to burn off some calories.  The girls played in the sand.  These pictures are kind of in backward order.  Sophia only warmed up to the sand near the end after watching her sisters playing with the stuff.
Have to have all 3 Chungs together in at least one picture.  Such a warm beautiful evening.
Papa went for a little walk with Sophia down the beach.
Sophia spilled her water onto her dress and was naked for a bit showing off her belly.
Sophia enjoying her cheerios.
Busy getting wet sand in their matching Ariel dresses.  Thanks Sonia.
And some kite flying.  We got these kites at the Children's festival last week for $2 each and they fly great.  We took advantage of the wind down by the lake to fly them high.

Nothing planned for tomorrow.  That is bliss for me.  Just a simple day at home with the family is planned.  Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

Fun Day

The girls' music teacher puts on a Fun Day at the end of each year.  Everyone plays a musical piece, eats ice cream, drinks lemonade and plays games.  Fun, right?  Well not for me.  Come to think of it, it wasn't so fun last year either with my big pregnant belly.  I know, I know, it's me whining over here again.  But damn it's hard with 3 kids and 30 plus temperature outside.
Not to mention the big gust of wind that blew down a friend's shady umbrella right into Sophia's stroller, knocking the stroller down and taking Sophia down with it.  Man, that was a slow motion moment.  I was a few feet away holding 2 cups of lemonade with the girls close beside me.   She was shaken up but is totally fine.  Phew.
I was really proud of the girls.  They never get nervous playing in front of a crowd.  They have improved quite a bit in the last 2 years.  So I guess all the sweat and tears are worth it.  I feel badly that I'm so irritated lately.  I totally need a day off!  I think quite often to a commercial long time ago when I was growing up.  Calgon, take me away!  Anyone remember that one?  Where the woman leans back in her bathtub and relaxes with a bar of Calgon soap?  Aahhh.  Anyhow, I don't think that day off will come soon enough.  As soon as my hubby came home tonight I heard him making phone calls trying to get a golf game going.  Arghhh.  Well at least Fun Day was fun for the girls.

Itchy

We went on a school field trip today.   The class had an aquarium all year long where they watched salmon hatch from eggs and grow.  So today was the day that they were released into the lake.  That part was pretty cool.  Then we went for a nature walk.  I always knew that I was not an outdoorsy person.  Now I KNOW that I'm not an outdoorsy person.
There are no pictures during our walk because I was too busy pushing a stroller in a very narrow pathway that is not meant to have people walking on let alone a stroller!  Our nature guide pointed out the trees with scratches marked by bears in the neighborhood.  Also very cool but scary seeing what they are capable of.  We passed coyote dens (he said that sometimes they are lucky to see the coyote cubs playing - again too close for comfort!), poison ivy, thorny bushes, etc....not to mention that we had to look out for snakes (mostly grass snakes but still)!  All the while I'm swatting away mosquitoes from me and Sophia.  I got two mosquito bites right away that swelled up like they always do.  Add to that the fact that it was warm and I was really sweaty and you get the idea of how happy I was.As soon as we got back home I got us all undressed and threw everything into the wash and checked Rachel's hair for any ticks.  And then had her look through my hair.   Can't be too careful since we live in tick country.  2 girls from the class already had tick scares in the past.

It was only me that wasn't enjoying this field trip.  This little boy was standing in front of me with his mom while the guide was explaining how many types of owls there were.  There was   a heaping mound of horse poo in front of us.  He went to touch it.  His mother didn't say anything.  Then he decided to lie down beside the poo and stretch out.  His pants were clearly touching the poo.  The poo was dried out from the sun but still.  That is so wrong.  Is it just me? I am soooooooo a city girl.

Excitement

Hurry up Papa!  We can't wait to swing in our backyard!
Next on my wish list is to put a large fence around our backyard.

YIKES!

That's just above our backyard!  We just told our kids that they can't play by themselves outside anymore.  We never had to worry about that when we were growing up.  Our neighbor took the picture and warned everyone this morning.

10 years!?!

It's our 10 year anniversary this weekend.  I can not believe it.  10 years?!!!  Really?  Amazing.  We must really be getting old.  We normally don't do anything big for our anniversary.  In fact we don't really do anything at all.  But this year it feels different, it feels very special...like we reached a huge milestone.  10 years of marriage.  Happy Anniversary Papa!

Art Class

Every 2nd Friday the girls have an art class with this really artsy teacher named Yvonne.  She teaches them how to mix paint, how to hold a paintbrush the proper way and to see images in their paintings.  I wish I could take art classes too!  But I'm simply the chauffeur for the girls.

Early Mother's Day Cards

My girls don't have school on Fridays so they brought home Mother's Day cards today.  I've been totally looking forward to receiving them. I LOVE them.  I mean what better day/weekend for a mama than Mother's Day, eh?
Happy Mother's Day to all you mamas out there!

We also got their school pictures today.  Feast your eyes on these gorgeous chung chungs!  What can I say, I'm biased because I'm their mama.

Weekend Getaway

We just got back from a little mini getaway this weekend.  Papa had a disturbing course he needed to go to and since the hotel room was all paid for me and the girls tagged along.  So while Papa practiced sinus lifts and such on cadaver heads, the girls and I went swimming and shopping.  I wish I could say that it was relaxing.  There were moments when it was relaxing but mostly it was chaotic.  Oh yeah, and fun.

The hotel was so quaint.  I loved the deep soaker tub.  The suite was amazing with fantastic views of the lake and mountains from each room.

The girls loved the huge mirror that was in the living room.  We left it this morning with tons of fingerprints.
Sophia and her pal, Amelia, in matching booster chairs in deep conversation.
Fun in the pool and hot tub.  Unlike our trip to Mexico, Sophia actually loved getting into the pool.

I can't believe how quickly the weekend went by and to think that it's Monday already tomorrow.  Ugh.
