Datenight with my Girls

Last night I didn't feel like cooking dinner so the girls and I headed out for a night out. Papa was working late so it was just the three of us. And it was so surprisingly EASY. We went to Earls and they didn't stress me out or anything. Well there was one moment just before our food came out when Alex had to go to the bathroom so all three of us left the table to squeeze into a bathroom stall. Then I started thinking, OMG! what is going to happen when baby Sophia comes and joins us. Will all 4 of us fit into a bathroom stall? Will I be brave enough to take the twins AND a newborn out by myself? I thought NO WAY! One parent and THREE kids seems very overwhelming. So I am going to try and go on many many dates with the girls now (to movies - I really want to see that Whorton Who movie) before Sophia arrives because who knows when I will want to venture out with 3 of my kids. When Papa joins us it would be totally manageable again but I forget how difficult it is to travel with a newborn....the nursing, the diapers, the car seat, etc...

Pregnancy Update

I've been going to see my OB-Gyn once a month since the beginning of the pregnancy. At first the visits were pretty routine. Pee in a cup, see how much weight I gained, what the baby's heartbeat is, etc.... But for the past 2 months these visits have freaked me out. 2 months ago, the Dr. let me know that there were some concerns over my ultrasound results. Which then led to a 2 day trip to Vancouver to get more testing done at the BC Women's Hospital (I love that hospital BTW). Everything was OK and our fears were reassured. Then the last time I visited the Dr. he told me that they found some protein in my urine. So I had some more blood work taken. The protein part ended up being fine but they found that I'm borderline Gestational Diabetes. Which is really crappy because that's what I had when I was pregnant with the twins. And it wasn't fun to prick your finger several times every day and keep note of your glucose levels and watch every frickin thing that you ate. Whine, whine, whine! So the Dr. gave me this strict diet to follow for 3 days and then get more blood work done to see if this helps. The problem is that I haven't followed this 3 day diet yet so I can't go in for the blood work. I keep coming up with excuses. My parents were visiting, we were making special meals, we went away for a ski weekend with James' co-workers, it's Easter weekend, Easter brunch, Turkey dinner, etc...... I HAVE to start this diet tomorrow!!!!!! So tonight I sneaked a bowl of Haagan Daas ice cream - Strawberry AND Chocolate Brownie! And I ate my fair share of Easter chocolate too. What fun is it to be pregnant and chubby (FAT) if you can't pig out on your favorite yummy food?

Easter Egg Hunt 2008

All lined up ready and waiting to start the Easter Egg Hunt. The girls were so excited all week counting down to today. The first thing that Alex said when she woke up was...Today's the Easter Egg hunt!...with sleepy eyes. So so excited.

When the hunt began the girls RAN off together leaving baby Hudson all alone with his mama.

Baby Hudson quickly discovered the excitement of Egg Hunting. Notice how his mama is wearing high healed boots to the hunt?!!! What was she thinking?

Hanging out with Hudson

I'm loving Hudson. He likes the girls but not sure if he likes me yet. He's so hugable and he babbles a lot. The girls 'like' Hudson. They play with him and show him things but they also like to keep their distance. Like in this picture. They weren't thrilled that Hudson was joining them in the bathtub and they stayed in one corner while Hudson stayed in his. Too funny.

Our Relaxing Day

We picked up our favorite sandwiches from the Italian Deli and headed out for a little impromptu picnic by the lake. Yum Yum. My Dad took this picture of Rache, Tobi and me. Yes, we still have Tobi. And yes, we are still trying to find a good home for him since Alex is allergic to him. Any takers out there?

My parents were pooped when we got home. And when I was bugging them about it...they reminded me how I made them clean out the evil fish tank this morning before we headed out. Oh ya, I forgot about that. The evil fish tank now sparkles clean clean clean. Thanks mom and dad.

A Little Recap

So the snow has all melted away here and it seems like spring is just around the corner. There is only 1 more skating class left, we haven't gone skiing in ages and in exchange we have been riding our bikes and heading out to the playgrounds. It seems like the girls have grown so much in the past few months and are getting more and more independent. And I've grown so much in the past few weeks and am finding that I'm more easily out of breath and slowing down. Which is tough when you have to keep up with 2 speedy girls on their bikes.


We are so excited that my parents are here to visit. And they got to see the girls Spring Piano Recital last night. The girls did so great. I was so nervous for them and just before their group went up I grabbed my camera and noticed how slippery it felt in my hand because my palms were so sweaty. Nice, eh? In the hoopla of the evening I didn't get a chance to get a picture of my parents with the girls. Jeesh. Kaili, Robin and Jaia came to the concert as well. The girls are always so happy to see them. Thanks guys for coming.

Our Disney Adventure

We are back from our trip to Disneyland! You always hear about how 'magical' it is there but it truly was for the kids. They believed. The cast that were dressed up as different characters were very real to them - they were in AWE talking to the Disney princesses - and they were really fearful of Captain Hook and Cruella de Vil. The fireworks were the best that we ever saw - and the girls couldn't believe that Tinkerbell was flying through the air above us. It was worth all the trouble to get us down there to watch them wave and yell out to Alice in Wonderland, Flounder, Ariel, I could go on and on....as the floats went by us during the parade. We ate lots of junk food, the kids stayed up really late every night, we swam in the warm sunshine one afternoon, I got to shop at a Target finally(was kind of disappointed), and we walked A LOT!!!!! We had a great time but are happy to be back at home sweet home.
