Pumpkins, pumpkins, we love pumpkins!

We carved pumpkins this morning and it was so much fun. I can't believe that Halloween is tomorrow. So we carved, and carved and I must have the most talented girls in the world. Because they told me where to carve and what shape they wanted and we produced the most beautiful pumpkins ever carved!

Pumpkin Party on a Saturday Night

We headed to the Community Centre tonight for a pumpkin party and the kids were equal parts excited and scared/awed. They loved playing the games in exchange for BOO dollars. At the end of the evening we got to exchange the BOO dollars for lots & lots of candy. The girls couldn't be happier with their BIG stash. They have been inspecting all the contents in the bag and keep coming up to me and asking me....what's this? So I will respond with....oh that's a tootsie roll, you won't like it, better give it to mama. oh....that's sour blast cherry....pretty sour...better give it to mama. oh that lollipop has a Frankenstein on it, better give it to mama. And because they are only 3 years old, they listen to me and have handed over lots of candy. I wonder how long that trick will work.

Proud Mommy

Tobi got his haircut today and he looks so GORGEOUS! Especially with his Halloween bandana around his neck. Boy am I glad that we didn't give him away. We love having him around.

And he made me so proud today. Just look at his raving report card!

Momma Wants Cake!

Momma wants cake so we all made chocolate cake from scratch today. YEAH! It was the first chocolate cake that I ever made from scratch and it turned out fantastic. YUMMY!
So while I was pulling out all the ingredients that I needed, the girls started drumming a beat on the flour container, sugar container and table. It was great fun.

This picture of the girls hugging is hilarious because they were hugging and thanking each other for making such a fantastic cake. Seriously. Their exact words were....Thank you Rachel/Alex for the best cake ever.... and they would continue to hug.

I had to include a picture of this masterpiece. The piece de resistance is the jube jubes of course.

Want some Smarties?

So it's been 4 weeks now and the girls still don't like their ballet class. So after paying for the classes, then buying their ballet outfits and excitedly anticipating Saturday morning ballet classes....it's turned out a little different then I expected.

The first class both girls were soooooooooo shy and were crying that I had to participate in the class with them for them to feel comfortable. Which isn't bad except for the fact that every other parent had their camcorder on and was recording their children along with me in this class. And we were running around galloping on our pretend horses. Very embarassing. And it's been like this for the past few weeks. Last week, James took the girls and they both cried and clung onto him the entire time while he sat in the dance studio sitting on a little stool. On an embarassment scale of 1 to 10 he said that it was about a 9! So this week, I had to bribe my kids to go to ballet class. I told them if they went to class and didn't cry and listened to the teacher, then I would let them have a whole entire box of smarties. Rachel wouldn't be bribed and said that she wasn't going so she stayed home with James. Alex, on the other hand, got dressed and we went off to ballet class. And she did WONDERFUL! She listened to the teacher and danced/pranced around the dance studio. YEAH!!! I was so happy to see her dancing on her own. As soon as the class finished she ran to me and asked....can I have the smarties now? So we went to the store and bought some Halloween size chocolate and she finished off her mini box of Smarties. :) So bribery DOES work. And here is a picture of Alex proudly showing off her note and sticker that she got from her ballet teacher.

After a pretty busy Saturday morning running around we got to relax this afternoon playing in the backyard.

Fall Wine Event

We went to an amazing wine event late last night but instead of remembering 'wine' all I remember is eating lots of MEAT. The event runs from 10pm to 1 in the morning and is not stuffy or anything like that. There is an amazing buffet with sooooooooo many different types of MEAT. Pulled pork, brisket, chicken, sausages, ribs, you get the idea - and a delicious BBQ sauce that you can smother the meat in. Oh and I can't forget to mention the beans because they were pretty special too. It's an outdoor event and it was pretty chilly when we were eating at our own private table beside the pool.

But once we got into the wine cellar (I think that's where we were) it was warm. We were treated to this amazing gospel choir that put all their soul into the singing and put on a fantastic show. Lots of feet stomping, arms waving, smiling/laughing & grooving. Both the caterer for the event and the gospel group were from Vancouver. James kept on saying in disbelief that they would be from Vancouver since they seemed so authentic and should be from somewhere down south.


This is a picture of the group before they went for their break. When they came back out they were out of their choir outfits and wore 'normal' clothes. And one guy had the brightest red velvet jacket on with a huge collar. It looked great and only he could pull something like that off.

And here are a few pictures of James and my friends Jeff and Shannon eating their plates of food...I mean MEAT. YUMMY. The pictures don't really show how much our plates were piled high but I don't think that James had room to add one more thing to his plate.

Tea Party

We are enjoying a relaxing morning playing pretend picnic and having a tea party. I'm trying to keep the mornings quiet because the afternoon always seems like a whirlwind of activity going to pre-school. I'm happy to report that both girls like going to school now and there are no longer any anxiety and tears before we head out the door. They both WANT to go to school now.

They met Sparky the Fire Dog this week at school. The local fire dept sent Sparky and a Fireman to come and talk about fire safety to the kids. As soon as I picked them up all they could talk about was how much Sparky liked their hugs. And
they each got a fireman's hat to take home.

Today at school I get to stay with them. Yeah! I'm going to help the teacher and the kids make and bake an apple crisp. I love getting to know all their little friends and watching them interact at school. When I was telling a friend about these activities she looked at me and said...oh you are one of THOSE mothers.
So I was like...what type of mothers are you talking about? To which she hurtfully responded...a SMOTHER MOTHER. I've never even heard the term Smother Mother! So rude! Anyhow, I'm really enjoying the fact that I can stay at home and enjoy every part of their day, even if that means that I'm a Smother Mother.

Au Revoir Mes Amis, Au Revoir.......

Some friends got together on Saturday night to enjoy some food & drinks and say goodbye to Shannon and Jeff. They are off on an exciting adventure to Calgary next week. So basically that leaves only a few more days where we can bug them, eat KFC with them and walk up the hill exercising with them. So that will basically keep us busy and maybe distract them from packing so they don't leave. JK. Good luck guys. We will certainly miss you.
