Sophia's Ride

We just bought Sophia this Dora ride on today from Walmart.  It was received with lots of excitement from all three girls.  James and I can't believe that we are re-visitng Dora, Barney and Treehouse once again.  Not that Sophia has watched much of these programs.  Since Scooby doo is always on the TV she is kind of missing out on Treehouse fun.  But yes, we are buying baby/toddler toys once again.  Not to mention the $50 baby gate that we also had to buy.  Too crazy considering we had SO much baby stuff that we got rid of when the twins grew out of them.  Oh well, what can you do.

Picture Day

Alex's alopecia is something that causes me stress on a daily basis.  I don't think about it constantly but at some subconscious level it bothers me.  She had so much hair growth last fall and into the beginning of winter but in the last few months most of her hair has fallen back out.  So frustrating.  Anyhow, I talk about it today because it is picture day at school today.  When I dropped the girls off at school most of the girls had their hair up in ponytails with ribbons in it or had it curled really pretty.  So Alopecia was just more pronounced today.

Anyhow thank goodness for Alex's wig.  I brought the wig with me to school.  I asked the teacher what time the pictures were going to be because I've noticed that Alex likes to wear it for only a short period of time.  I guess it gets too hot and itchy when worn for a long time.  So I figured that I would come back to school a few minutes before the pictures and help her put on her wig.  She couldn't give me a definite time but said that the photographer would probably come earlier in the morning.  So I put on Alex's wig before I left.  She had the biggest smile on her face.  She had on a really pretty white and green dress with only 1 sleeve.  Very modern and fancy.  When she walked into circle time all the girls oohed and aahed at how pretty she looked and she was BEAMING.  There is a great group of kids in her class that she has known for 3 years now (2 years preschoool and Kindergarden).  But from next year when she goes to a real school for grade 1 I don't know if I can protect her from bullies.  Oh the stress of being a parent.

Sophia & Friend

This is Sophia and her little friend Amelia.  They had fun looking at each other and having their parents laugh at them while placing the tiara on top of their little heads.  We were laughing the whole time trying to stage the pictures like they were actually playing with each other.  More like just checking each other out and thinking...hey you are little like me!

But I'm pretty sure Sophia was thinking...hey that's MY phone and I'm the only one allowed to suck on it!

Easter Egg Hunt 2009

We went on our annual Good Friday Easter Egg Hunt.  So many families, so many kids, so much excitement, and of course yummy food.  We meet up at a local park and the kids run around. 

Then we sat down to our potluck lunch.  The food was really good.  There was equal amounts of desserts as there was real food.  YUM!

We met up with lots of our friends.  It was great to see everyone.

Then all the kids lined up and waited for the moment when they were allowed to run off and find Easter eggs!  Oh the excitement!

Jaia, Alex and Rachel shared their eggs with Sophia.  She had a great time just like we did.  Definitely one of the highlights of Easter weekend for the girls.

Tomorrow's a New Day

It is 11:00 at night and I'm feeling a little crappy about how the day ended.  The twins got me so frustrated this afternoon at music class.  They have been taking piano lessons for 2 years now but it boggles my mind when they forget things that they definitely should know.  But something that they are so interested in like Disney movies, they can watch once or twice and remember every detail of the movie.  They have made progress in their piano playing and they say that they do like going but it's like pulling teeth.  To all the yawning while the teacher talks, to the way they slump on the piano bench while they play their scales it drives me bonkers.  Did I do those things when I was a kid too and drive my parents nuts?  In addition to my bad mood was the fact that my girls don't really answer questions posed to them by anyone.  This doesn't make any sense but it does to me.  If an adult asks them a question....like how was your spring break?....how did you girls enjoy skiing?....etc...they don't really answer back unless I prompt them to.  Like I say....girls, did you hear what XXX just asked you?  Then they will answer the question.  Drives me nuts.   I don't think it's because they are shy.  Maybe they expect the other twin to answer for them?  I don't know.  I've spoken to them about this many many times before.  So they got the major lecture from me tonight.  I think I was way too harsh on them.  Of course, I feel guilty now because the house is peaceful again and they are asleep so I can't go and hug them and tell them how proud of them I am.   James reminded me that they are in Kindergarten after all and maybe I'm expecting a little too much.  Anywho tomorrow is another day and I can only learn from my impatience with them today and try to be a better mom tomorrow.  

Art Gallery

There is this little art gallery in town and they have art supplies set up for kids on Sunday afternoons.  So we ventured out for the first time today and it was fun.  We will definitely be going back.  Even Sophia had fun trying to reach for the paintbrushes.

First Day of Soccer

Who knew one day I would be a soccer mom.  

Today was the girls first day of soccer and they had so much fun.  

It was a cold sunny morning and the whole family went down to cheer on the girls.  Sophia missed the whole game though...she slept in the stroller the entire time.

First they warmed up with some practice drills.

All the kids played two 15 minute games.  With a half-time break with orange slices (which was one of the highlights of the morning).  The mini games were 4 kids against 4 kids.  Really small games so all the kids had a chance to touch the ball many times.

Alex had her hands in her pockets for half the game until Papa went and told her she shouldn't and then from that moment on she got 4 goals!

Next time I'll have to remember to put their sweaters on UNDER their blue jerseys.  Sheesh...I didn't know how I should dress them this morning.  I have never worn shin pads.  Nor have I every played soccer on a team. So the girls are way ahead of me on this one.
